The IPQ - Portuguese Institute for Quality published January 30, 2007 Portuguese Standards relating to "Activities for Research, Development and Innovation (RDI):
- NP 4456:2007 Management of Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) - Terminology and definitions of RDI activities;
- NP 4457:2007 Management of Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) - Requirements management system RDI;
- NP 4458:2007 Management of Research Development and Innovation (RDI) - Requirements of draft IDI;
- NP 4461:2007 Management of Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) - Competence and evaluation of auditors of management systems and the auditors of RDI RDI projects.
The NP 4457:2007 standard is to define the requirements for an effective system for managing research, development and innovation (RDI), allowing organizations to adopt a policy defining RDI and achieve their innovation objectives.
Was designed to be easily integrated into other management systems, being compatible with standard NP EN ISO 9001:2000 "Quality Management Systems - Requirements (ISO 9001:2000)" with the NP EN ISO 14001:2004 "Systems Environmental management - Requirements and guidelines for its use (ISO 14001:2004), as well as other rules management systems.
NP 4457:2007 is based on a model of innovation, supported by interfaces and interactions between the scientific and technological knowledge, knowledge about the organization and operation, and the market or society in general. The concept of innovation behind this rule arises from its meaning as a mechanism for generating wealth, whose impact and usefulness of results in benefits to the organization and to society.
The standard can be used for certification, self-assessment or assessment by another interested party, with the aim of assessing the organization's ability to comply with the requirements of the management of IE.
This rule would establish a normative reference to help organizations improve their performance, with emphasis on its management system IDI as a method to create fundamental knowledge and turn it into economic wealth and social.
